Train trip along the north coast

Kronborg and Louisiana in one day

Hamlet’s castle and the museum facing the sea are on the same train line. It can be done in a day, provided you choose the day carefully.

The journey

Kystbanen journeyJourney timeAdult single ticket
København H → Humlebæk (Louisiana)about 43 min66 DKK
Humlebæk → Helsingør (Kronborg)about 12 min—
København H → Helsingørabout 55 min78 DKK

In the morning, a train leaves about every 15 minutes. These times are valid until 12 December 2026. Then allow 10 minutes on foot to Kronborg and 10 to 15 minutes to Louisiana.

Which ticket should you get?

DSB recommends a day ticket if you want to stop on the way. We could not confirm that a single ticket allows this stop.

  • City Pass Large: 200 DKK for 24 h, zones 1 to 99. VisitCopenhagen mentions Helsingør; Humlebæk is on the same line.
  • Copenhagen Card DISCOVER: 589 DKK for 24 h, train and admissions included.

For these two visits alone, the City Pass Large works out cheaper: 200 DKK + 150 DKK (Kronborg) + 145 DKK (Louisiana) = 495 DKK per adult, compared with 589 DKK. The card becomes worthwhile if you add other paid visits on the same day. Do the sums.

In which order?

Start with Kronborg, which closes earlier, then stop at Louisiana on your way back. From Tuesday to Friday, the museum stays open until 22:00.

Which day should you avoid?

Avoid Monday: Louisiana is always closed, and Kronborg is too in November and December. Also check the end-of-year holidays and winter opening hours on the Kronborg and Louisiana pages.
